Goodbye

I hate saying goodbye. Sometimes I wish that we could just move so I could skip the process of leaving. We love Pittsburgh and will miss the city and people here. We especially love our neighbors and are so sad to leave them. I'm not sure we will ever have it as good as we have it here on Duffield St. As much as Mark can't get out fast enough, I am going to miss our 100 yr old home--it is our first home (our "green house" as Kate calls it)!

It is a little crazy in our house. We have spent the last couple weeks getting Mark through finals. He officially finished law school last Fri, but for some reason it still hasn't hit us. I feel like we should be yelling and screaming but we haven't done that yet. We started packing over the weekend. Katie is loving it. She wants to pack everything, including her lambie and blankie, which of course I didn't let her do because I would be frantically looking for them at bedtime after she forgets why she wanted to pack them. She asks me everyday if she can take a certain toy or book to Charlotte with her. Mark's parents come tomorrow night, so with their help we should be able to finish getting everything together.

Katie has had a busy last month. We had her Mommy and Me class "Springtime for Preschoolers" for the past 6 Tues. Katie loved everything about it. She learned about the wind, rainbows, plants, birds, bugs and frogs. She was the youngest kid in the class but was able to keep up with everything going on (yes, that is my proud "my kid is awesome" bragging moment).

She had a date with Daddy a couple weeks ago and went to see her first movie "Earth". She liked the movie, but I think she loved that seemingly endless bag of popcorn and box of junior mints more.
We recorded Mary Poppins on DVR a couple weeks ago, she now watches part of it everyday after quiet time. One afternoon I caught her trying to do the Penguin dance, it was so cute. She sings the songs all the time (our friends actually recorded the soundtrack for her tonight since we will be losing the movie soon).
When the weather gives us a break, which it doesn't very often, Katie hangs out on the street. We got her a bike so she proudly joins the neighborhood kids in the street to play (something we are so sad to leave--the neighborhood gatherings in the street every evening).

Addy is getting so big. She figured out how to go forward finally. She doesn't crawl straight-up, she kind pushes herself forward off her knees in a little hop type thing, but she gets to what she wants and that makes her happy. She has started shaking her head at us and when she wants to be way to cute she ducks her head to the side and smiles at us. She has started eating sometimes. She likes crackers a lot which is really weird since she sometimes chokes on applesauce and yogurt. We took her to the doctor today, she is 18lbs 7 oz and 26.4 in.

Marcus is still just hanging out. He isn't as mobile as Addy on his belly but he can pivit in a complete circle, and he somehow always seems to get what he wants I just have never seen him get to it. He says "da-da" all the time now, I am working on "ma-ma" (and Katie is working on "ka-ti"), but he isn't getting it--it is just "da-da, da-da". He is my little cuddle-bug, he will just hang out on my lap talking and drooling. He weighs so much I can barely carry him, he was 20lbs 11oz and 27.5 in at the appointment today.
