Memorial Day

Memorial day was a fantastic day full of fun for our family.  We decided to spend this special day getting to know CT a little better.  First, we visited a lighthouse about a half hour away in Bridgeport.  There was a rock wall leading out to it, which made the whole experience even better.

We played out by the lighthouse for a while, throwing rocks and enjoying the sunshine.

After the lighthouse we went to the Bridgeport boardwalk to visit replicas of the Nina and Pinta.

Finally, it was was time to eat.  We drove further north to New Haven to try out CT's famous pizza.  We grabbed a couple pizzas and headed to a nearby park to eat (we didn't feel like waiting in line for the hours it would take to get a table, plus, let's be honest who wants to eat out with 4 kids).

How cute it this!

Jaxon spent most the time chasing the birds around the park.  He could get pretty close because they were looking for food.

And then, becasue we hadn't done enough, we drove around Yale campus and stopped to spend some time at the Peabody Museum.

We drove home tired and happy.

Dance parade

This year for dance Addy is taking a BLT (ballet, leaps and tumbles) class.  She has been loving it.  A couple weeks ago her company danced in the New York City Dance Parade, Addy's class was invited to join them.  She was so excited.

The original plan was that I would walk in the parade with Addy, and Mark and the other kids would watch the parade.  But, Marcus' first baseball game ended up being scheduled as the exact same time and he was pretty nervous so Mark decided to stay and take Jaxon to Marcus' game and Katie came with Addy and me.  They let Katie dance as well and Addy kindly shared the limelight.

Addy was pretty nervous in the beginning.  It wasn't until she started dancing that she calmed down.

Katie had to learn the dance routine on the spot, but she did a pretty well and had tons of fun.

The parade ended in Tompkins Square Park where there was a 'dance party' all evening.  We decided to hang out for a while; we stayed for the rest of the parade, we watched some dancers preform onstage for a while and then we wandered off to blow some bubbles and hula hoop.

And, of course, no trip into the city is complete until we have had something to eat.  This trip included incredible tacos and ice cream.

p.s. can I please live in the East Village in my next life!

Easter

We got home from our road trip on Good Friday.  Saturday morning we were up bright and early to
go to the Easter Egg Hunt at the church.

Jaxon stopped after he has a few eggs so that he could eat his candy.

After the egg hunt our church had a breakfast, so we stayed a while to hang out.  Jax stole a egg shaped like a football and went around showing everyone and throwing his 'ball'.

Katie invited her friend Lilly and her family to celebrate with us.
Easter morning we snapped some pictures and went to church to celebrate the resurrection Jesus Christ. "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" 1 Corinthians 15:55

After church we let the kids find their Easter baskets and toys.  And then go on another egg hunt in our yard.

Happy Easter!

Jax and I have joined a playgroup at a local church.  One Thurs for playgroup we went to a farm.  Jax's reaction to seeing a chicken for the first time was priceless.  It was like he finally realized that all the animals in his books are real.  He couldn't have been happier and more excited.  We decided to go back as a family that same week.  We spent forever looking at the baby lambs.

Oh Spring and warm weather how we love you!
