Birthday Girl

We have a little girl turn 6 around here.  Her birthday fell on a Monday.  She wanted donuts for her 'family party cake' so we had them for breakfast.

She opened her presents from Grammy and Grandpa.

The weather was cool for the first time in a a little bit so we took advantage and headed down to the school's empty fields to investigate some bugs.

When the weather warmed up, we went swimming with some friends.  Then we went to our favorite little place by Mark's work, for dinner...complete with family presents and ice cream.

thanking Marcus and Addy for her new journal

Then to top off everything, Tues she got her present from Grandma and Grandpa, and slept in it a week straight (until I made her go back to her bed).

Since her birthday is only two days apart I always consider 4th of July as part of Katie's birthday.  This year for July 4th we decided to stay home and have our own firework show.  We only bought legal ones and sparklers, but a few houses up our neighbor was letting off some really good ones (we figured next year we should give them our money and let them take the risk while we enjoy the show).  The kids thought the fireworks were the coolest thing ever, and they thought Mark was AMAZING that he could light them.

I know, I know we all look a little scraggly, this is what happens when we don't leave the house.

Just a cute picture of Addy during the week at the Y pool
Last Sat we had Katie's birthday party.  She wanted a flower theme.

The party favor was a mini watering can with flower seeds.
We bought  some flowers at Trader Joes and had bouquets all over the house.

who knows where they learned to pose like this, I should be scared

The girls all painted their own little flower pot.

For an activity the girls made a flower using fruit and veggies

I can't believe Katie is six! Seems like yesterday I stopped by that hospital in Utah and saw her as a newborn. I love the flower theme to her birthday and all the crafts and favors-I may have to steal some of your ideas for future parties of my own.
