A very special day...

Eight is a really special birthday in our church.  This is the year that you can be baptized if you choose to do so.  Katie has been counting down her baptism for a year.  We started reading the Book of Mormon together when she turned 7 to help her understand better what it means to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Katie turned eight while we were in Utah so we scheduled her baptism for August, during a time that both sets of Grandparents would be able to make it.

Grammy and Grandpa arrived the night before and Grandma and Grandpa arrived in time for a celebratory dinner before we headed to the church.

My friend Catrina took a few minutes to take pictures of Katie before the guests arrived and the service started.

Katie's 3 best friends from school came to support her.

The service was very special.  Mark was able to baptize her, and both her grandmothers gave talks.

After the service we had refreshments of Katie's choosing, including my Grandmother's pound cake.

Of course Johnny was there too.  (This was right before he moved out.)

We are so proud of our Katie and what a wonderful person she is turning into.
