Fall 2014

School started but the weather just got better.  Jax and I found a great place to hike and spent many a days there getting some exercise and throwing some rocks in the water.

One day there was some construction going on--Jax would have watched all day.

We invited 'the guys' to come with us one day after school
On a half day of school in September, we met some friends at a nearby lake with a great beach area.

The school had a family back to school night, with a photo booth, face painting and all sorts of other fun.

Mark's new job is in NYC.  The hour commute has been hard on our family, but we are adjusting.  He really likes his job.  And one of the perks is that I have more reasons to go into the city.

Jax and I in the city to visit Mark on his lunch break.
With the great weather, our favorite pastime after school was still riding bikes.  We also spent most weekends riding to the park with Mark.  When we bought Jax his balance bike for his birthday Mark was worried that he wouldn't learn how to ride it before winter and we had to put it away.  I said it would take him a week to learn, it was a total of 3 days before Jax was riding like a pro.

Football started.  BYU kept us happy for a little while.

In August Flossie and Chris adopted a 9 month old baby girl they named Olivia.  Then in September, Bethany and Eric adopted their daughter Elise.   We all decided to meet in State College to meet the babies (and of course to see Rufio).

We arrived the day before Flossie and my mom, and stayed with Bethany and Eric.  We hung out with Rufio and played with Elise.

When my mom and Flossie arrived we all met up at a hotel. Hotels+cousins/aunts+pools=party time; add a little Grandma and life is good.

Flossie and Bethany with their cuties.

The whole crowd terrorizing an Asian restaurant.
We went home after 2 nights but we left Katie for the rest of the week to help Bethany with Elise.  Katie has been begging for another baby.  I told her no, so me letting her stay was our compromise.  Bethany said she was a great help; feeding Elsie, changing her and playing with Rufio.

The day after we got home my friend Heather arrived for a girls trip to NYC.  The kids were out of school that Friday so we took them to the city with us.

We went to Central Park Zoo.

After the zoo we walked through Central Park.  We stopped to watch a puppet show.

And then of course went in search of rocks.

That night, we had Caleb watch the kids and Mark, Heather and I went out to a fancy little dinner.

Saturday was a girls day, with lots of yummy food, Canal St,

We stumbled upon the food festival
and of course a Broadway!  There is nothing better then a night in NYC with a great friend (come back soon!).

Monday we went to my favorite Venezuela place nearby and then stopped by the beach before I took her to the airport.

somehow Jax lost all his clothes
Johnny, who moved to VA to play football for SVU, was playing a game in NJ.  We went to watch him play.  Jaxon was most excited to see Uncle Johnny again.  He has a shirt that he wears with two football players on it.  He thinks one is Johnny and they other is Caleb.  He also thinks that Johnny plays in every NFL game that Mark watches.

Somehow this is the only picture I have of him.  But Caleb moved in with us for the fall, and went to high school here.  The kids had so much fun with another uncle living here.
Jax and I also recently discovered a fantastic Nature Center in the next town, so on a half day of school we took Katie, Addy and Marcus to check it out. We went to the playground first,

Addy and her super strength!
and then checked-out backpacks and nets and went for a hike.

taking notes on what she sees
always observant

There is nothing better then being outside in nature with my kids!

Early November Bethany and Eric came to visit.  We spent a day in NYC.  I let Katie skip school and come with us (Addy and Marcus wanted to go to school).  It was a day full of food.

We ate at Chelsea Market

That then to China town for dumplings and to Little Italy for Canola.

Getting some 2-yr old energy out at the park in Chinatown

All three of my kids got Citizenship Awards the same day,

and a month later, they all got Principle Awards for their grades!

And some more cuteness..

Jaxon's playgroup went to the firehouse.  Jaxon was so excited to drive the truck
Marcus received a gift card to Chucky Cheese for his birthday.  The closest one was in the Bronx.  We met Mark there one Friday after work.  He almost died walking the .5 miles from the train station to Chucky Cheese in his suit.  After he arrived alive we had a lot of fun trying to get the most tickets.
Jaxon and I went to eat Thanksgiving lunch with Addy and Marcus
Katie found out we were going to name Jax 'Mia' when we thought he was a girl, so she started dressing him in girl clothes and doing his hair.  He will respond to it sometimes.
Jaxon was invited to his friend's birthday party.  He spent the whole party staring at the cupcakes on the table.

Katie did a report on Maine culture and then invited us in to watch them present.
